Maternity Pillow

I got the maternity pillow in the mail on Saturday - so I've got to use it two nights.

I don't think I know how to use it!! The first night I used it by laying my head on end and it curled around the front of my body - that didn't work out. I had a kink in my neck and it wasn't too comfortable. Last night I curled it around the back of me - that seemed more comfortable, but I didn't sleep in the bed much last night because I was so restless....so I'll have to let you know after this week if I find a way it works best for me!!!

I know several of my readers use/have used one - how did you find it most comfortable??

More Gifts!!

Tuesday my friend Renee (who was 9 months pregnant!) had her doctor appointment 30 minutes before mine...since the doctor was running late we were in the waiting room together for quite a while....She went in, and came out, while I was in the waiting room - and the doctor was sending her to the hospital to have her wee little baby girl!!! She gave me this book - and I've been reading it already, it has a TON of great tips and it grades baby equipment, furniture, toys, etc - so you know just how safe the stuff you are buying is! I love it and it will definitely come in use.

*Renee had baby Kenley Jo Thursday morning (Thanksgiving!) - she's a doll!

Thanksgiving day when we were at my parents house my mom brought these out for me - I LOVE THEM! It's the first clothes I have gotten - and they're perfect!

9 weeks

I initially wanted to take my weekly pictures in the same spot every week - but that isn't going to work out, so I'm going to at least attempt to wear the same clothes : )

Again - I look like crap. I had been cooking pies and stuffing all morning! These were taken earlier in the day then my 8 week photos, so I think my stomach actually looks smaller!!!

Question

I have a question to my readers....Have any of you brought a newborn into a house with a cat?? I have an indoor cat and can NOT imagine having to get rid of her. I wanted to hear other peoples experiences with bringing their child into a household with a cat.

Macie, my cat, doesn't like people much so I can't imagine her messing with a baby very much. Anytime any kids are here she stays as far away as possible...but it's still a concern of mine....

Thanks for any information you have to share! {Feel free to leave your message in the comment section, or e-mail me!}

First Doctor Appointment

Our first doctor appointment with our new doctor went good. She was running pretty far behind...almost 2 hours.....but I'd heard that could be expected and that the reason for this is that she doesn't rush you when you get in the room. Also, I've been told the earlier your appointment the less wait, so from now on I plan on making earlier appointments.

Here is Chris in the room....we were waiting for the doctor to come in.

Me - sitting on the table.....I was nervous, tired and hot... : )

The nurse came in first (she's from Vienna too - although, i didn't know her...) - she asked a handful of questions. After she left we waited a while more for the doctor..

Once she came in she got pretty much right to the ultrasound.........it was so neat! She MADE SURE we took pictures and recorded it....it was really nice to have her so concerned about "making memories".

Here are the ultrasound pictures. It's still a little thing - but you can make out the head and little body!! Amazing!

SO - ONE baby! YAY : )
She recorded my due date as July 1 - so basically around the same time I had figured.
My next appointment is December 22nd, we will get to hear the heartbeat. Hopefully I can convince Chris to go to that appointment with me too!

Ultrasound

I recorded a portion of our ultrasound! Pay close attention to the little flicker in the middle of the baby, it's little heart! It was amazing..........

Randoms

*I'm still craving non-sugary things - like meats, cheeses, chips, eggs, etc. This is weird for me since my whole life I've loved junk food!

*I've been feeling nauseous still. And tired. Very, Very tired. Everyone says it gets better in the 2nd trimester - so just a couple more weeks to go (hopefully!)

*For the most part I haven't been bothered by a TON of smells, last night, however, Chris came to bed a couple hours after I'd been sleeping and he had put un-scented lotion on his hands - the smell of it woke me up and had me sick.....He still couldn't believe today that it woke me up and made me so sick (I didn't throw up, but it took me forever to go back to bed!)

*Hoping to get my maternity pillow in today or tomorrow!!

*I started a notebook that I just write down a little note daily - on what I did, how I felt or anything else pregnancy related. I put the pregnancy sticker I use for my weekly photo at the top of the page and use the remaining page for that weeks notes - Hopefully it is something my child will enjoy one day.

*I've still been peeing like CRAZY - around 5 times a night and a couple times an hour during the day - they say that subsides in the 2nd trimester as well. At this point the 2nd trimester sounds delightful : )

Some Quick Statistics

on my pregnancy thus far!

If I'm right on the due date - June 29, 2011 - The baby is now 8 weeks 5 days old!

The intestines are forming in the umbilical cord this week.

I am 67.1% through my 1st trimester. My 2nd trimester begins in 23 days!

219 days remain until my due date.

Lovin all the pregnancy apps on my iPhone that keep me updated!

We'll find out Wednesday if I'm right on my due date!

Comments

Okay - FYI - I didn't have my comments set up where it e-mailed me when people commented, so I thought up to this point NO ONE had commented, I was kind of sad. I just now, however, realized I had a ton of comments - so I replied to them. I'll be more efficient from here on out!

Have a great day!

ANOTHER...

Maternity Purchase.

Are these going to be never ending?!?!?

I mentioned in one of my last posts that I was going to get a body pillow to try and help me sleep. I had a co-worker mention this maternity pillow earlier in the week, and after my post 3 friends sent me messages about the same maternity pillow. One friend said she'd pay double what it goes for (which isn't cheap - $60!). So, I figured 4 people, 2 who have children and 2 who are currently expecting, wouldn't lead me in the wrong direction. SO, I ordered one online. I am hoping to get it by Saturday....

I'll let you know how my first night sleeping with it goes!

OH - I bought it from Target.com - and there were 177 reviews of it, and nearly everyone of the reviews were 100% positive. I think this is going to be a good investment!

Maternity Clothes

I'm not planning on purchasing a lot of maternity clothes - but one thing I'm going to have to have is maternity dress pants.....so, I ordered a couple pair online from Motherhood Maternity.
These are the only two pair they carried in long length - I hope they work!

This shirt was in clearance for $9, so I went ahead and added it to the order too : )

8 WEEKS!

Do not judge the nappy hair or yucky make-up. I had just worked out and rushed home to grab something to eat, change and get to my friends house before she had to leave!

So...what do you think.....am I eating too freaking much, OR WHAT!

I am going to be HUGE.

What's Going On...

Nothing much has changed symptom wise...I'm still exhausted all the time, never feel very good, don't sleep well - I'm trying to imagine people who go through their whole lives feeling like crap (you know, those people who are never happy and always grumpy). I can't imagine not knowing there is an end to this!

I went on a search for a body pillow and Wal-Mart doesn't carry them....a friend told me Kohls has them, so hopefully I get to pick one up this weekend. I think it might help me sleep and cut back on the tossing and turning I do all night (so far I've ended up on the couch about 98% of the nights since I've been pregnant).

I'm beginning to wonder about this stomach - it's growing at what I feel is a "too fast" pace - Tomorrow I will be posting my first weekly belly picture (I'll take one each Wednesday and post each Thursday) - so you'll see what I mean. A week from today is my first ultrasound, I can't wait for the confirmation there is ONE baby in there and that everything is healthy and where it's supposed to be!!!

In addition to being pregnant - we are trying to sell our house, building our current house, I'm getting ready to have to compile and edit a huge project for class, I haven't done a bit of Christmas shopping....so I'm a little stressed. I'm trying to not let any of it bother me as much as it normally might though.

Have a great day!

Diaper Bags

A friend came by Friday night and showed me two diaper bags she ordered - they were adorable!
This morning I have been just browsing diaper bags online - I won't buy one until I know the sex of the baby, but it's fun browsing : )
Here are some I like:
I like this color mostly - not so much the style of the bag.
I really like this style and color.
If I have a boy I WILL order this bag - LOVE IT!
I really like this one, but I'd like to go with a brighter color (not black or brown), more of a yellow, red or green.

I love this style!

How will I ever make a decision!?

My Second "First" Appointment

I switched doctors. The appointment yesterday just left me feeling - uneasy - for several reasons - and I'm SHARING the place AND reasons - so that if you need an OB doctor in the future you can use this information.

There were a lot of things that just added up yesterday that made the whole appt. a horrible experience. I could have dealt with any ONE of these things - but all of them together is just not acceptable in my opinion.

**They called me an hour before my appt. and asked for me to be there half an hour early

**A nurse and the receptionist were fighting for about 5 minutes while the line grew and they weren't paying any attention to us

** I didn't even see a doctor or a nurse practitioner, but an LPN, which I thought was rude of my doctor to not even stop in

**The LPN left the door open the ENTIRE time she asked me all these personal questions

**She told me to write my questions down because if I called and left a message it could take her 2-3 days to respond

**....AND a couple other minor things, but they just add to the whole experience

This is with Capital Region OBGYN -- Dr. Nolla was my practicing doctor (who didn't, obviously, practice!)

I got a new doctor today - Dr. Jennifer Su - my first appointment is November 24th - and guess what - I GET AN ULTRASOUND that day - when, with my last doctor, I'd get one and only one in February! This is the same doctor my sister and several friends go/have went to - I'm excited!!

First Appointment

Well, I had the first appointment today. I've waited and waited for it.....and it was basically NOTHING!

I got asked a hundred questions about my health, Chris' health, my parents, grandparents, cousins, everyone that may be related to me or my husband's health..........

Oh - I peed in a cup and they said all my "levels" look good and I'm pregnant. SURPRISE! ; )

No "exams", no heartbeat detecting, no ultrasound - just question after question after question.

Oh - I got to ask my questions too -at on point I said "I'm sorry - but I'm sure you get these types of questions all the time (I had a LONG list)" and she replied "Actually, no, most people don't come in prepared at all." She went on to say that I was refreshing - that she'd never seen someone so prepared and so knowledgeable for their first pregnancy. When she gave me my packet of reading materials she told me she isn't even going to lecture me on how I should read all the materials before my next appointment - she said she was sure I'd do it before I went to bed that night! I told her it must be the auditor coming out in me : )

Anyway - after the lovely questioning session I headed to the hospital where I got a couple gallons (may be a SLIGHT exaggeration) of blood drawn....then back to work.

My next appointment is December 9th. I'll be 11 weeks and she said I'll be able to hear the heartbeat at this appointment!

Oh - and I was right on with my due date - I actually told her before she told me! It's June 29th. Today I am 6 weeks and 6 days pregnant.

When do you all think I should share this blog with my "normal" blog readers?!?!

Tops

I had a $10 free coupon to JcPenney so I decided to look at the woman's clearance tops and I found 3 that should work for maternity tops - and they were all 70% off! I could only find 2 of the 3 online...

I'm hoping I can get away with doing this throughout my pregnancy - maternity clothes are NOT cheap!

Eating

If my calculations are right I'm getting close to 7 weeks...and I've already gained 5 pounds. NOT COOL!

I've been eating out WAY too much and craving not good for me foods (bacon, chips, carbs, etc.) - After weighing myself last night I decided it's time to get back on the health wagon. I went to the grocery store early this morning and stocked up on fruits, vegetables and healthy cereal....I'll just need to curb my cravings with fruits and vegetables and hopefully I'll begin gaining a healthy amount of weight!!!

I did a little online research to see if it's normal to have a pooch already at 6 weeks - I found that it can be. Thank goodness because I no longer have a flat stomach.
This is my before belly - this summer....my goal is to be back in those shorts by September(that's 3 months after baby Wansing is due...)...

I won't start taking my weekly belly pictures until week 8 (a little over a week away!) - but last night I had Chris snap a 6 week pic....

.......please, someone tell me this craziness is normal! Ahhh!

Gifts!!

I got 2 gifts from two awesome friends this week!!

Monday when I got home from work I had the book: Love and War:Finding the Marriage You've Dreamed of - on my table!! This isn't a "baby" present - but I think it was the perfect gift for this time in my pregnancy(you know - the week I threw a large item at my husband ; ). It's a book that talks about marriage and the struggles you can face and how Christianity and God help get you through the bad times and are there during the good times. I have read the first couple chapters and it is really good writing so far! Can't wait to keep reading it.

Tuesday night after a VERY long day (because of night class) I came home to another gift on my table!!! This one was The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy. Even though it was way past my bedtime I opened it and read for half an hour. It is hilariously truthful. Wednesday night I even took it to the gym with me and read it while biking!! It's great!!

THANKS to the two best Sarah S.'s EVER (Yes, each gift was from a different person and they both are named Sarah with last initial of S!!).

They're the sweetest!!

Halloween

Sunday was my first day of experiencing the crazy hormones they say come along with pregnancy. So, I got to be a crazy hormonal pregnant woman for Halloween - no outfit required.

I may have broken down into tears over something relatively small.

I may have thrown a large object at my husband.

I may have cussed at my husband and father-in-law.

I may have left my house and refused to tell my husband where I was.

I may have cried more times that day than I have in the whole year preceding.

I finally calmed down (after a nice long walk and a much needed bath) and went back home. Poor Chris...he dealt with it relatively well. Thank goodness!
